Yellow teeth? Can they ever be white again?

As we age our teeth may become discolored. They may become yellow for a variety of reasons including, overuse of tobacco and cigarettes, eating certain foods such as blueberries, not brushing your teeth daily, using certain antibiotics, even drinking coffee, tea, sodas, or red wine can cause staining. Certain stains are more evident than others. The inner crevices, or the dentin, of teeth becomes yellower as you age and you begin to lose the outer enamel. As a result, the yellowed dentin shows through the outer enamel giving the appearance of yellow teeth.

What to do?
We offer professional teeth whitening  at our Philadelphia Dentist office that can decrease staining significantly and safely. If you do not live in the Philadelphia area, I encourage you to ask your dentist if he/she provides a treatment that can safely whiten your teeth without harming the enamel.
