Sensitive teeth and warm weather

Summer time often leads to cool drinks with ice, ice cream and other cold treats – but it can also lead to tooth pain. If your teeth are routinely sensitive to cold, try lessening your exposure to extremely cold things!

If your teeth are suddenly sensitive to cold, this is something to inquire about with your dentist and could be a sign of tooth decay or damage. Always visit your dentist for routine dental exams and ask questions about the health of your teeth.

Teeth Whitening – how will I look?

With so much information out there, it is hard to get an objective view about the effectiveness of teeth whiteners. There are many whiteners on the market sold over the counter, but many teeth whitening products are sold purely through marketing hype – with little or no verification or proof of success. So what should you do? Trust that a dentist can give you an honest opinion of the benefits or concerns of whether or not you should brighten your smile. Remember that some teeth whitening products have no definitive proof of actually working… or worse, they are too abrasive and actually can do damage to your teeth.

If you want fast and proven results, professional teeth whitening is the best option for you. Our dental office uses an advanced technology called “Zoom” — in one session you will see immediate reluts that will last longer and are safe for your teeth and gums. Call our office today at: 215-627-3888  OR check out our current cosmetic dental specials

What to do when you have a Sore Tooth

A sore tooth can be anything from a dull irritating pain to downright excruciating! Here are some tips to evaluate what is happening with your tooth and whether treatment at a dental office is in order:

  1. Clean the tooth with a toothpick, floss and or brush. Determine whether your tooth is sore because of a lodged piece of food stuck in-between your teeth.
  2. If your tooth is still bothering you, take an aspirin or a pain-reliever.

  3. Another medicine that gives relief is Anbesol – use it liberally on the area surrounding the tooth.

  4. A tried but true method is an ice pack, or if you don’t have an ice pack, you can use a bag of frozen veggies.
  5. If your tooth is still bothering you, please call Philadelphia Dentist Dr. Eidelson’s office right away! We take emergency dental appointments and appointments on Saturday.  215-627-3888

Will easter candy harm my child’s teeth?

Easter baskets are full of treats for kids but is all that candy harmful to their teeth?

If your child is eating chewy, sticky candy such as jelly beans, peeps, chewy fruit snacks, or chocolate bunnies – be warned – all this sugar can contribute to cavities! Make sure your child brushes his or her teeth after indulging in their favorite Easter treats. If they have had a lot of the really chewy candy, a good floss is on order and then a mouthwash. Try to limit the amount of candy in their basket – add some toys, bubbles, something they can play with out in the yard since the weather is getting warmer. Less candy = less cavities!

Sharing a Wonderful Review

We just received this wonderful review from a patient and wanted to share it with our patients!

I am writing to express my gratitude for Dr. Eidelson and his wonderful staff. I initially came to the office after seeing a TV advertisement. I had just gone through a horrible experience with my previous dental  office to include improper placement of crowns, incomplete dental work along with a rude staff. The previous office even wanted to pull a tooth they worked on and charge me even more to fix it. I made an appointment with Dr Eidelson with the hopes that he could perform a miracle and he did. On my first visit, after I explained my dilemma and stopped crying, they completed x-rays, evaluation, molds, and temporary crowns for 2 teeth. My next visit resulted in placement of my permanent crowns. I also had some other teeth that needed crowns and fillings and again with limited appointments and a very small amount of time in between the appts. 3 permanent crowns were placed and my smile has never been better. I have been getting compliments from everyone. I have had problems with my teeth all my life and it was compounded by dentists who did not have the patience nor expertise experienced with Dr Eidelson. I live in NJ but definitely do not mind traveling to downtown Philadelphia because it is well worth the extra travel. The amount he charges is equal to other dentists. The difference in service he provides, along with high quality work and products for very reasonable fees is PRICELESS. I will come to this office FOREVER and highly recommend them to others. My only regret is that I didn’t find him sooner.
